- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup sugar - 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup chocolate ganache (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour and cocoa powder alternately with the milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing.
- Melt the chopped dark chocolate and let it cool slightly.
- Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until well combined.
- Spread the chocolate mousse over the completely cooled cake.
- Top with a glossy layer of chocolate ganache before serving.
